My Top 37 Social Bookmarking Sites
One of the more popular questions I’ve received recently is:
"What is social bookmarking and how do I get started?"
Social Bookmarking is quite a simple concept really…
It basically is about sharing your "bookmarks" (like your "favorites" in your internet explorer) with a Social Bookmarking Site. This type of a site basically stores your links and allow other people to search, view and vote for your bookmarks.
So, how can you as a marketer leverage these sites?
The way you can take advantage of it is by setting up individual accounts with the various Social Bookmarking services and post links back to your individual web pages. When posting links, you will also enter tags (your keywords), which categorizes your bookmark (so other people can find it).
How does this benefit you?
Well, social bookmarking can drive direct traffic to your website (by people clicking on your bookmarks) and also has the potential of getting your sites indexed faster (since many of these SB sites are high PR).
However, some of the Social Bookmarking sites put "no follow" tags to your bookmarked links (which means Google will not "see" these)… but don’t worry, Yahoo and MSN don’t pay attention to these (yet). Plus, you can still get quite a bit of traffic by people clicking through your links.
Now that this brief description of social bookmarking is out of the way, here are
Here’s my list of the Top 37 Social Bookmarking Sites to get you started:
You would want to try to get your pages on each one of these bookmarking sites.
Bookmarking these sites are a piece of cake (albeit a bit time consuming) and to help automate some of the process you need to sign up with OnlyWire, a 100% free service that allows you to bookmark a page to 19 different services at once. P.S. You will need to sign up to each of the social bookmarking sites individually to use them within OnlyWire.
UPDATE: I didn’t actually include "social voting" sites on this list, but here are some of my favorites:

It’s a nice list. I use onlywire after each of my posts, and I have another secret weapon… Socializer from Ekstreme.
You may want to try it as well, since all the services not listed in onlywire are there.
It’s top notch.

Isn’t there a site that allows you to SIGN UP FOR several social networking/bookmarking sites at once? If so, what is it (they)?

Steven @ 4:20 am:
Hi Andy,
Thanks for visiting my blog.
I have not seen any software that actually signs you up for social bookmarking sites, only software / scripts (online and offline) that automates the submission of your pages to bookmarking sites (such as Onlywire as mentioned in the post).
Sorry I couldn’t be of more help.
