What The Heck Is PPL
If you already own a blog or a website, or have been doing affiliate marketing at any level you are most likely familiar with programs like Google Adsense or Yahoo’s YPN services. You may even be familiar with some of the affiliate marketing networks like Commission Junction, Linkshare and ShareAsale.
By the way, if you are new to internet marketing and aren’t familiar with Affiliate Marketing, this is what it is in a nutshell (taken from Wikipedia):
"Affiliate marketing is a method of promoting web businesses (merchants/advertisers) in which an affiliate (publisher) is rewarded for every visitor, subscriber, customer, and/or sale provided through his/her efforts."
Unfortunately most think of Affiliate Marketing as a product focused way of doing business, i.e. selling a physical or digital product… which is very limiting. There are other monetization models like "Pay per Action / Acquisition" (PPA) and "Pay per Lead" programs.
What exactly are PPA and PPL networks you ask?
Well, a PPA network is where the advertiser pays you, the affiliate, a commission when some kind of an action desired by the advertiser occurs. This could be a sale of a product or perhaps the completion of a form (such as a credit card application). PPA is often referred to as CPA as well, with CPA referring to "Cost per action" or "Cost per acquisition", with the latter being specific to the acquisition of leads or prospects.
PPL is where an advertiser pays you for the collection of leads. In other words, you get paid when the visitor fills out a form, which could be as simple as a name and email address to a full fledged application that has been completed by the visitor. Generally the payout will depend on the amount of data someone submits.
By the way, if you want to learn more about how you can earn money using PPL and PPA networks, I recommend you download this Free PPL eCourse.
OK, so how do you find these networks?
Well… this can be challenging. There are some relatively well known networks out there, like:
and the ones we already mentioned, like:
And you also have networks that specialize in digital delivery programs (like eBooks, online audio and video tutorials etc.) like:
But the problem I found when I was first getting introduced to this type of a monetization model was that it was quite hard to find a comprehensive list of affiliate / ppl / ppa networks or the "right" affiliate marketing network for my niche…
So, I started to compile my own list and now have 38 of these networks on my list.
Take a look at my list of Affiliate Marketing Networks
Also, before I forget… I wanted to mention that if you are having trouble finding an affiliate program for a particular product, you can generally find something by doing a search in Google for "x affiliate program" (just lose the quotes around the phrase, and change the x to the name of the product or name of niche).
